Implementation of Microteaching in Adult Education: Intensive Preparation of Adult Educators for the EPOPPEP Practical Part exams

As part of its activities in the field of lifelong learning, APOPSI organizes and implements an Intensive Adult Training Program in order to prepare candidates for the exams of the practical part of the EPOPPEP (Micro-Teaching). The aim of this program is for the trainees who will participate to focus on the preparation of the practical part of the EPOPPEP exams and will have a duration of 20 hours.

Education methodology is based on the principles of adult education and experiential learning. A particularly innovative element of the program is the development of simulation conditions for the trainees to experience and prepare themselves in testing conditions. The training process includes five on - line consultancy meetings, the last two of which are the microtuition workshop. The training is strictly implemented in groups of trainees not exceeding 20 people.

The program is aimed at:

  • Adult trainers preparing for the upcoming EPOPPEP exam.
  • Adult educators who have successfully completed and completed adult education programs of public and/or private institutions and organizations.

Subject 1 – Meeting 1: What is Microtuition: Evaluation Criteria (4 hours)

The purpose of the first meeting is to analyze the context, content and evaluation criteria of microinstruction. The most important educational techniques that we can use in a 20 minute microinstruction are also presented

Subject Module 2- Meeting 2: Educational Design and Preparation of Microinstruction (4 hours)

The second meeting will focus on the analysis of educational planning (educational objectives, selection of educational techniques, etc.) by providing re-guidance on how the trainees will complete the microtuition plan form for the EPOPPEP exams. Particularly important innovation will be the possibility for learners to attend at least three (3) exemplary microcourses by experienced instructors.

These micro-teachings simulate the procedures of the EPOPPEP exams (interaction, use of teaching techniques and supervisory tools). Trainees in addition to their observation and participation in the training team will have the opportunity for active intervention, discussion and reflection in the educational process they attended.

Topic Section 3 – Meeting 3: The Road Map of Microinstruction from 1st to 20th minute (4 hours)

The third meeting will present the learners with a methodological approach and a pattern for the implementation of microinstruction from the 1st to the 20th minute. We will analyze good practices and mistakes that we should avoid.

Subject Module 4- Meetings 4 & 5: Presentation of Small Tutorials of participants (8 hours in total)

At the fourth and fifth meetings the trainees will have the opportunity to present the microteachings they have created and receive feedback. Due to the COVID 19 conditions, the process will become on-line with a focus on the presentation of the micro tuition plan and the educational course that each trainee will follow.

  • Specialized Training Material for the study of the Practical Part of the exams
  • Model Micro-Teaching Projects
  • Provide advisory support during the course of the seminar
  • Certificate Of Attendance

The cost of participation is 120 euro and 100 euro for trainees who have already taken part in a public or private adult education program.
